I am an engineer by qualification, a product manager by profession, but would better choose to be known as mom to my naughty two year old son, Kabir.
My journey so far- from USA to Lucknow has certainly been the most adventurous, unpredictable but definitely interesting one. A lot changed over the course of the period, however, the one significant factor that altered my way of perceiving things around me is when I embarked on the beautiful journey of motherhood.
To begin with, I never had imagined that I’ll don the role of a mother so soon in my life. Nevertheless, when it happened, I gladly accepted what fate had planned for us, and I couldn’t agree more that it was the best decision of our lives. Well, our fancy plans of a trip to Amsterdam did come to sudden halt, I would unhesitatingly say that it was worth it
During the time of my pregnancy period, while I had the guidance of elders and had a complete to-do and not-to-do list, what I craved for were conversations with girls who were in the same phase of life. To have someone by your side, experiencing the same pain and pleasure as you is definitely a very reassuring feeling, and at times, during that period, that is all that you need.
Now a pregnant-lady’s wish never goes unfulfilled!
One day, at a party, I met a girl who had the same due date as mine. We instantly became very good friends, and started sharing little details, our experiences, answered each other’s questions, clarified doubts, et all. Later, I was added in a whatsapp group of mothers who were expecting. In the due course of time, we all became very good friends, making the journey of motherhood more meaningful, joyful and fulfilling.
Since then, I realised how profoundly these friendships affected my mental state as now I felt I had my tribe to lean back to and seek support. For instance, once I was in dire need of a food processor, and nowhere was it available. To my rescue came my mom’s friends, who instantly got me in contact with a wholesaler of the same. Such incidents recurred time and again, making me realise even more the crucial roles mom friendships play in our lives.
It was this realization that sowed the seeds of the idea of setting up a platform, and I soon discussed with some of my friends, who also had recently acquired motherhood. We realised that there existed no platform that would serve as a bridge between two women, who were on the same stage in life, and wanted to connect. Therefore, to bridge this gap, I decided to create Momly (@themomly)- an app for all the women who are either trying to conceive, who have already conceived and those who have become mothers to make new mom friends living around their area.
It’s been now 6 months since is I started momly with my friend Supriya. We first launched our app (Android and iOS) in March and have so far got 150 active users across different cities in india. Our vision is to make momly your go to friend through motherhood journey. We are constantly improving the app with new features and great user experience. It’s an app by mothers, for mothers.
A few challenges we faced while startup was finding right people to help us on tech and marketing front. Coming from a tech background, building an app was fairly straight forward but what we struggled with most is marketing. Digital marketing is great but it requires constant experimentation to understand your audience and keeping up with the latest trends. We fortunately found a good team of mothers who want to help build the platform with us.
Motherhood is a wonderful journey but what makes it all the more joyous is when you have some amazing mom-friends, cheering for you, supporting you and being there with you when you need them the most.

My heart breaks each time, I hear of kids getting starved, abused, beaten by the very people who are supposed to love and protect them.

From many years, the war begins at home. Each year million children are reported as victims of child abuse and neglect.

In India, stats and numbers are really terrifying as we can’t see children as individuals. Most of the families, think children are subsidiaries of their parents.

As a parent, we need to shield our children from physical or any other abuse. The best thing we can do for our children is to love them, support them and keep them safe from harm and abuse.

A child should never suffer or be abused based on the fact that the responsible adult is ignorant or unable to take care of him/her.

Now talking about our families and homes, who are most vulnerable and get affected with our relationships with our closed ones, partners, family or relatives?

Our children…

It doesn’t matter at what age they get affected. The truth is that they get affected and we ignore them. We only focus on our pain and healing and neglect their suffering completely.

They need our assurance and full attention in those times but we feel exhausted to provide them. Yes there are many resources available everywhere to learn and know more about these.

With healing2peace.com I am going to share my resources and experiences, which helped me and my kids to heal in a healthy way.

One of them is – Finding and recognizing healthy adults in your family and friends. Recognizing who is good for your kids growth and who is not.

We moms face many issues today which moms in earlier days never thought about. One of which is self-doubt. Thanks to social media & perfect looking parenting also blogs on them. Hence we moms doubt our ability to handle our role gracefully and secretly compare ourselves to other parents, who, lets be honest here, are only posting good parts of parenting.
If you feel you are less than a Rockstar parent, you’re not alone. But, you are awesome. Yes you! You are doing fabulous job of parenting, sometimes single handed. Even on those days when you allow your toddler/child to have pancakes, donuts, chips or chocolate for dinner, while you are having your dinner peacefully once in a while and enjoying Netflix.
Here are 8 signs that will show you as supermom/super parents:-
1. You self-doubt if you are doing a good job as mom:
This thought in itself proves you are doing great job because if you didn’t care about being the best parent you wouldn’t pay much attention to this thought.
2. You’re looking for different ways to improve as parent:
You are finding the ways to look like picture perfect parent on Instagram, but the truth is you’re just looking for ways to get better day by day at things you’re are already doing. Apart from that constant comparing on social media you take out time to improve yourself as parent in some way or other. Everyone needs improvement but you as parent trying to do so speaks volume about you.
3. You have huge collection of saved files on Instagram/Pinterest:
Saving files of DIY, games, kids meal recipes etc. for your child is great job as you are thinking about all these and their happiness in future. Even though you get little time to implement it.
4. You live in the messiest & noisiest house possible:
Well that’s just your thought. Every mom thinks this. If you have well behaved & disciplined kids then what’s the use of having kids and not enjoy the childhood? Spending time with your kids while they are growing up is more important than making your house tidy. So let it be. Live in the moment.
5. Let your children be open to you:
If you talk to your toddler who speaks certain words which are alien language for you, let them speak and try to make conversation out of it. Let the conversation be open ended and enjoy that part. As this will help them to open up to you and trust you more to share their secrets in future. Which will result in raising a responsible and trustworthy adult.
6. You are their constant when they need you:
You are always their for your child even if you are working mom. So what if you cannot build fairy house/ tent house with their favorite toys in garden. But you are there for them when they sick, lonely, feeling low or scared. And its good and right part of parenting.
7. Your eyes glitter when you see your kids:
As a parent you feel joy in your heart, tears if happiness in your eyes when you see your little one. And don’t doubt even for once that your bundle of joy didn’t notice.
8. Your kids feel they are completely loved:
No matter what your days are like. If you failed to make pancakes for them when you promised, even if you had harsh days at work and had no help at home. Even if you were impatient on certain days and served same kind of food for 2-3 days. They know that you love them unconditionally and they are top priority in your life.
These are some of the points which I believe.
